Sovereign Class Battle Cruiser/Explorer

History : The Sovereign Class of Star Ship was to be the replacement for the Galaxy class of ships that would be over ten years old after the first Sovereign class ship was launched. The original design brief was simply for that and designers worked for over a year on design specifications for the new ships. The final design was a culmination of designs from over the 80 year history of the ASDB, featuring the best features of all the designs they had developed.

The ship was much smoother and sleeker than before, offering a more tolerant warp field therefore allowing greater speeds.

Many design changes took place along the way (see Below) and the overall ship was one of the most advance Starfleet had ever built. Projected build time at over 20 years however again, after the Borg incident production was stepped up, the figure dropping to 15 years.

Over all the project went very smoothly and the product excellent.
